Alvi cardigan
Buy the pattern via Ravelry here
Alvi is a short and oversized cardigan with a high V-neck. It is knitted top down with an European shoulder construction. The length of the body and sleeves can easily be adjusted.
Firstly, stitches are cast on for the back piece, which is then knitted back and forth in stockinette stitch. At the same time, increases are made on both sides, creating the sloping shoulders. Subsequently, stitches are picked up for each front piece, which are knitted separately. Thereafter, all the pieces are knitted together while stitches for the sleeves are picked up alongside the front pieces. Subsequently, you knit back and forth while increasing only on the sleeves, and later in form of a raglan. When the correct number of stitches is reached, the body and sleeves are separated. All are finished with a 1x1 ribbing and Italian bind off. Lastly, stitches are picked up for horizontal plackets.

Choosing size
Alvi cardigan is designed with a positive ease of approx. 30-35 cm (12-14 in.) in the smaller sizes, and approx. 25-30 (10-12 in.) in the larger sizes. This means that the sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) corresponds to bust widths of 80-85 (85-90) 90-95 (95-100) 100-110 (110-120) cm / 31-33 (33-35) 35-37 (37-39) 39-43 (43-47) in. If you want a less oversized look, choose a size that gives you a smaller positive ease.
Choosing yarn
Multiple yarn alternatives are listed in the pattern. Worth noting is that a combination with mainly alpaca, e.g. Alpakka 3 from Isager yarn, will give a cardigan that grows more in size and length after blocking, compared to other types of wool.
A silk mohair thread and an alpaca following thread are interchangeable.
